Compagnia Atacama

Atacama Company was constituted in 1997 by Patrizia Cavola, choreograph and dancer, and by Ivàn Truol, choreograph, dancer and actor, as the result of an artistic team work already existing since several years, and that had already produced performances and collective creations ("E' meglio che la luce rimanga spenta" (1990), "Bianco Sale" (1990), "A Sud del Cuore" (1993)).
Atacama is for us a place of study, search, experimentation and creation.
The creation’s work is strictly tied up with the elaboration of a personal choreographic code, dancing style and expressive poetic.
The address of Atacama’s research is to define a physical theatre, that stays at a boundary, in which the movement and the dance, the vocal expression - text or singing, music or every kind of artistic expression useful during the creation - interact and integrate each other.
We look for a way of dancing that could be the being's expression, lit by feelings' flow, able to communicate, to upset, to inflame.
We look for a theatre of doing, based on the interpreters’ strength, on the quality of their presence, of their physical work.
We collaborate with Epsilon Indi musical group, and with Sergio De Vito in particular, who is the composer of the original music of each Atacama Company's performance, and of the works previously created by us too.
We collaborate with Danila Blasi too, light designer of all Atacama's production, and our accomplice.
The first company's production is the performance "Dal Sud" (1997), one-act play for two dancers, staged in a lot of reviews and festivals all over Italy, as "Festival Internazionale Fabbrica Europa" in Firenze, "Sentieri d'Ascolto" of E.T.I. and A.T.C.L. in Roma, "Terzo Incontro Nazionale dei Teatri Invisibili", in San Benedetto del Tronto, "Festival internazionale delle Arti "Differenti Sensazioni" Fondazione Pistoletto of Biella, “Venti Ascensionali” Orvieto Sala del Carmine, “Che Danza Vuoi?” Teatro Greco di Roma.
